San Diego Trip – Day 5

I have never driven so much in such a short amount of time in my entire life. Today was another 10-hour drive from Sacramento, CA to Eugene, OR; with a few stops for food, gas and breaks.

One of the more amazing parts of the drive was seeing Mt. Shasta. We would come around the corner and it would just be there, right in front of us. It was very white with snow against the blue sky. It was an amazing sight to be seen.

Tomorrow is the last leg of our drive. We will leave Eugene in the morning and drive the rest of the way to Seattle. Once we drop off the truck at my mother-in-law’s apartment, I will get my stuff and take the bus the rest of the way home. I am really looking forward to getting home. I’m supposed to go to work on Tuesday, but I may take the day off to relax.

This has been an amazing trip so far, and I’m so glad I decided to do it.

San Diego Trip – Day 3

Wow. This was a very busy day. First, we went over and picked up the rental truck. It’s a 16-foot Penske rental. The truck is pretty easy to drive, which is going to be very nice. We then drove the truck over to the rental unit and left it there while we waited for the movers to come.

In the meantime, we went to Lake Murry and La Mesa to walk around. We saw different animals, including birds, snakes and lizards. It was pretty neat to see.

After lunch, we met up with the movers to load the truck. The storage unit was on the second floor and the elevator didn’t work at first, but they were able to get it fixed. It took about 2 hours to get the truck loaded and then we drove it back over to the hotel.

Then we drove the rental car back to the rental location by the airport and then walked to downtown San Diego. While walking the planes would fly right over our heads as they landed. The were about 100 feet above us when they went overhead. It was pretty load. After we got downtown, we took the bus back to the hotel, had dinner and now we are resting for the long drive which starts tomorrow.

Tomorrow we will be leaving around 6:30 and driving to Sacramento. Sunday we will drive to Eugene and then Monday to Seattle. It will be so nice to get home. I really miss my wife.

San Diego Trip – Day 2

Today was a good day. We started out around 9 and went to Lowe’s to get a few items for the moving truck and then went to Costco to get a few snacks for the long drive.

Then it was time for site seeing. First, we went to Balboa Park. I had never been before and boy, is it big. A co-worker said we should try out Prado restaurant. When we went by, it was closed, but at least I can say I saw it. We spent a few hours there and I would definitely go back again.

Then, we went and drove over to Coronado and, again, walked around. We didn’t stay there very long, but it was interesting to see. We even drove by the Hotel del Coronado. That is one very large hotel.

Afterwards, we went to Old Town San Diego. I really enjoy the history of places, so that was really interesting to see. Lot’s of old-west exhibits and we even talked to a blacksmith for a little bit. He is a very interesting guy and was very informative.

Lastly, we went and walked along the beach.

It was a good day.

Tomorrow, we pick up the moving truck, get it loaded by some movers and get ready to go. We’ll take the rental car back to the airport tomorrow afternoon and take the bus back to the hotel. We plan on leaving for Seattle early on Saturday morning. The first night, we will be staying in Sacramento. It’s going to be a long drive!

San Diego Trip – Day 1

This morning I wrote about finishing my AdvoCare 10-day cleanse. Tonight I am writing about my next adventure. I am writing this from my hotel room in San Diego (I live in near Seattle, WA). What am I doing in San Diego, you may ask? I flew down here this morning with my mother-in-law to help her move the rest of her stuff back to Seattle.

We had an uneventful flight down this morning, went to check to make sure we know where to pick up the truck, checked-in at the hotel, went to dinner and then did some sight seeing.

We went to La Jolla and I have never seen so many seals in one place. Here are a few pictures, They were everywhere!

Tomorrow is some more site seeing, a Costco run and getting a few more things for the drive. Friday is picking up the truck, getting it loaded and then we roll-out on Saturday morning and arrive back in Seattle on Monday.

AdvoCare Cleanse – Day 10

Day 10! I made it! I know it’s only been 10 days, but you have to start somewhere. This morning I weighed myself and I was down to 169 lbs. Not too bad for 10 days.

Now comes the harder part. To keep eating healthy and not fall back into the bad habits from before. I’m going to keep the 80/20 rule in mind when looking for something to eat. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

AdvoCare Cleanse – Day 9

With one more day to go on the cleanse, I am feeling much better. Last night I went to my spin class at the YMCA. Wow, is that a workout. They just recently changed the format, so it is much more challenging than before.

I’m excited to find out my results tomorrow and see how well I did. Even though the cleanse ends tomorrow, does not mean I can go back to eating all the sugar and other things. This is only the beginning and I hope to continue for a long time.

AdvoCare Cleanse – Day 8

I am in the final push of the cleanse. Only a few more days to go. The challenge will be to continue eating healthy and not going back to some old habits. A good friend recommends the 80/20 rule. 80% healthy and 20% fun. You do need to enjoy sweets every so often, and I think that is a great rule to live by.

I am also excited to check on the results on Wednesday. I’m hoping to be down a few pounds and inches. We’ll see!

Tonight is the gym and the spin class. It’s hard, but I love it!

AdvoCare Cleanse – Day 7

Today was a bit of a challenge. At church, there is always some sort of snack or treat. This morning they had mini-scones which looked really good. I really wanted to have one, but I didn’t. I was able to discipline myself and not have one.

I think many people won’t do a cleanse because they think they won’t be able to complete it. They think they will give in to the temptation. But, if you really want to do it, you will find ways to overcome the temptations and as time goes on, it will become easier and easier to resist.

Today’s dinner was a chicken chili in the crock pot. It was really good. Only three more days left and then I will be able to check the results. I am still feeling better and looking better.

Today was a good day. Weekends are usually harder as I said yesterday. Everyday I’m feeling better and better, which is a good very thing. Today I had Mahi Mahi for dinner with Quinoa and grapes.

Not as much to report today. Only a few more days to go and I’ll get to see how many inches I have lost.

AdvoCare Cleanse – Day 5

Today is the half-way mark of the 10-day cleanse. I’m feeling much less bloated and tired. My energy is up and I feel like I have a little bit more of a pep in my step.

Tomorrow is Saturday and the weekends can be the hardest to keep on the plan. It is much easier for me to plan my meals during the week, since I am taking my lunch to work. At home it is much easier to grab something quick and not think about it. Weekends take more work, but it still can be done.

Tonight I am going to a church event, so I’ll have to be very careful what I eat. There should be something there, even if it is just a salad and some oranges. I’ll figure something out. I’ll let you know how I do.

I’m looking forward to Day 10, not just because I’ll be done, but because I’ll be able to take my measurements and see the changes.
